April 19, 2011 Prayer Update

This is an experiment to see how getting things posted work.  I hope to have better posts later.
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
We want to thank you for your faithfulness in praying for us out here in Kinshasa.  Things are a bit tense these days, maybe it is just the weather.
Rod is staying extremely busy.  We are down to two  pilots, Rod and David Francis, and two planes.  Our manager does make a third pilot but he does have a lot on his shoulders.  We are very thankful that we have two full time mechanics, Brian Writebol and David Burton, on the job now.  We also have an IT missionary who keeps our internet and computers running regularly, John Gorenflo.  Please pray for overall morale for our MAF team here.  There has been some sickness going around, plane repairs seem to be more than normal, plus the city electricity has been worse than normal so attitudes are on edge, oh and someone just reminded me of our household water shortage.  (Time to haul water again).
I am enjoying teaching at TASOK right now.  Yesterday I had to break up an argument as to whether Jesus was black or white.  We ended up having an community circle and each child got to share their opinion and in the end I gave mine.  I would call it an unusual opportunity on my part.  If you want more details you will have to ask me personally.  Please, always pray for wisdom as we communicate with others around us.
Austin has selected Cal Poly as his future school.  He is feeling VERY overwhelmed right now with finishing up classes, college forms to be filled out, decisions to be made (any wisdom on how to choose a dorm at Cal Poly?)  and graduation only a few weeks away.  Pray for clear guidance, self discipline and peace for him.
Emily is still looking for a summer job in Ohio.  Please pray that she will find one in a timely manner.  She is a diligent worker and learns quickly so there are a lot of employers missing out. :-)
We will be leaving for the States June 10th two days after graduation and the day school closes.  Please pray for us to be prepared, close up well here and safe travels.  This is our schedule as far as we know it right now.  If your church or you want to schedule something with us soon, please let me know.
